Week 10 - 22nd September 2024

I wonder if I will be making this for the rest of my life? I would quite like to move on to something else at some point, yet this game is miles away from completion.

However, it does have a full plot. I've said this before, but this time I mean it. I've changed. Take me back.

It's genuinely the finished plot. I might tweak a thing or two, but the game is fully cast now and all the plot points make sense. I'm really happy to introduce the puzzles I've wanted. Also - the bog is back! I brought back the bog. What a moment. Here it is.

What? What's your problem?

Oh yeah. This is not the finished artwork. I decided this weekend to just put every room into the game right now, even if they aren't drawn yet. So Edda wanders happily between some pretty cool looking arty screens and some incredibly basic black-and-white placeholder areas.

But at least she wanders the whole world now. The map is a great addition - it's made this feel more possible. I am now free to just start programming in each area and start dropping in the elements like puzzles and NPCs that will make it work. Also, the story is strong but hopefully you won't suffer death-by-cutscene. I hate starting a game that has more than maybe 5 minutes of cutscenes. Maybe.

Mine has arguably 4 lines of dialogue then you're into it. Get on with it, lazy gamer. This isn't story-time on the carpet. Sheesh.

Undy 1 had about 16 areas; Edda has about 25 and feels much bigger.

So it's probably going to be a comfortable 1 hour+ game.
